Dee Danford, of the Univesity of Wisconsin-Whitewater charter, has recently been accepted to be an intern for the Fund of America in Washington D.C. She will be working with the Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Services. In addition to landing a competitive placement in the internship she also received the highest possible scholarship to assist her with her housing costs over the summer. The internship she will be doing is intended for students who are deeply involved in volunteer activities at their respective campuses throughout the United States and who have an interest in exploring professional opportunities in the nonprofit sector after graduation. Dee will be enrolled at Georgetown University, and will be residing on campus for eight weeks during which she will be attending exclusive events geared towards the program participants and taking part in the Institute Philanthropy Project where she will develop her own mission statement and service project to implement. The internship will allow her to work on planning service projects, and organizing various fundraising activities. At the commencement of the internship she will award a grant to a worthy community program with the money raised through her fundraising efforts. Through this internship Dee hopes to gain valuable insight into the professional non profit field in which she hopes to one day be a part of. In addition she feels she will gain useful skills, knowledge and experiences that will be useful to her positions within the sorority.
