Tempe, AZ:  Gamma Alpha Omega celebrated its 17th year of continuation on January 25th, 2010. After 17 years and 19 chapters later, Gamma Alpha Omega is still growing and becoming an innovative leader in the Greek community. Clara Lopez Arvayo, one of the original founding mothers of Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority reflected on how the sorority has continued to grow and thrive even after 17 years, “When I saw that GAO….was a successful, growing, thriving organization holding true to the integrity of our founding ideals, I wanted to cry.… it was humbling to know that so many young women believed in us and our vision enough to call it their own.”

Several chapters held events unique to their chapters in celebration of founding day, including sorority retreats and Greek unity events. Other chapters showed their reek spirit by wearing Gamma Alpha Omega paraphernalia and facilitating campus workshops to bring awareness and outreach to Latino/a communities.  Gamma Alpha Omega’s Alpha chapter, located in Tempe, Arizona, hosted their annual Founder’s Day Ball which consisted of dinner, a keynote speaker and dancing. Earlier in the week, Alpha chapter hosted a meet-and-greet where sisters were able to connect with the local founders and charters of Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc.
